Spotlight on: Alice Caroline

Spotlight on: Alice Caroline

It started with Alice’s grandmother – a great quilter living on an island off the coast of Britain.

Ordering fabrics was not so simple back then. She had to mail order fabrics from a black and white catalogue, and wait several weeks before they arrived, making them cherished among her collection.

Alice grew up with this same love for sewing and Liberty as her grandmother, but still found these fabrics were not easily available - even on the mainland.

At first selling handmade items at student fairs, she made a breakthrough curating colour-packs for quilt-making together for clients to make at home. With time, these took off, and with time, led to the company they are today: trading primarily Liberty Fabrics and sewing kits from their base in The Cotswolds to a global clientele.

Alice has built a women-first business, offering flexible schedules around family, and helping women return to work after having children.

The company is known for their ornate designs, with new patterns carefully developed at Alice Caroline HQ, and undergoing extensive testing before they are released.

They operate through a subscription club, including their famous Quilt Kits, with everything you need delivered on a monthly subscription, helping customers sew a quilt in a year.

As a sustainable business, nothing gets thrown away. Remnants of fabric are sold at a discount in ‘Scrap packs’ including fabric tape, ribbons and swatches.

They are also proud to partner with Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS) this year for Quilt SOS: a charity quilt initiative driven by the Alice Caroline community, who have together created, and donated over 500 quilts since 2016. The final date for donations is Friday 27th November 2026. Further information on Quilt SOS and how to join is linked below:

Upcoming Projects

The team draws inspiration from the local area, with local walks leading out from Alice Caroline HQ towards Beckford, and far-reaching views up the top of Conderton.

Alice has just written her third pattern book, inspired by the local wildflowers and surrounding countryside of Bredon Hill. It was written in collaboration with another Overbury tenant.

A previous book by Alice – Alice’s Wonderland Sampler Quilt book, spurred a Sew-a-long series on Youtube by creator ‘Stitch with Rachel’, gathering just under 50,000 views.

The team will soon also launch their own fabric line, which will be available to purchase for subscribers around the globe.
