Overbury Enterprises is a family partnership of rural businesses based on the southern slopes of Bredon Hill, on the Worcestershire and Gloucestershire border.  The business recently celebrated its 300th year and we are continually advancing in order to thrive into the future.  There are eight core enterprises within the partnership which include:

assistant build manager/ maintenance operative 

The Position  

  • Take responsibility for and work with colleagues to schedule and manage small works, such as repairs to existing installations and programming cyclical works such as boiler services and electrical safety checks
  • Hands on maintenance - rapid response to water leaks, carpentry problems and undertake investigative/diagnostic work
  • Carry out cyclical pre-paint repairs, passing on to in-house joinery team when required
  • Step up to cover Build Manager’s annual leave, taking responsibility for directing the works of the Build Team
  • Responsibility for the monitoring and safe running of our private water supply, with weekly checks and maintenance.

 

The Individual

  • Self-starter who can work on their own and part of a team of seven, along with colleagues in the Estate Office
  • Modern, forward thinking with a can-do attitude
  • Experience as a carpenter or within a joinery workshop
  • Friendly and approachable, able to deal with a wide range of colleagues and tenants
  • IT literate, previous use of software to manage works would be an advantage
  • A keen Health and Safety champion, we take this very seriously so we are looking for someone who is keen to uphold our high standards

Our nursery offers children a distinctive start to life—where the classroom extends beyond four walls into fields, gardens, and woodlands. Rooted in the principles of outdoor learning, sustainability and farm-to-fork food principals, we provide an environment where curiosity, independence, and a love for nature are nurtured every day. As an independent nursery, we pride ourselves on flexibility, creativity and a close-knit community feel. Grasshoppers Nursery is privately- owned, and purpose-built.

Senior PRACTITIONER  

We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner, or an Early Years Practitioner ready to take the next step in their career, who has a genuine passion for nature and outdoor learning. We are a small, vibrant team dedicated to creating memorable experiences for children—from farm adventures and garden projects to animal encounters, picnics at Overbury Court, and plenty of muddy welly walks. If you enjoy learning beyond the classroom, love inspiring children through nature and real-life experiences, and are passionate about getting involved in community events, we would love to hear from you.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering high-quality education and care based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Help plan, implement, and evaluate a range of age-appropriate activities and experiences that engage children and support their learning and development.
  • Foster a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment that supports each child’s growth in all areas—emotional, social, physical, and cognitive.

 

Person Specification

  • Enjoys the outdoors
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Passionate about child care and experience of managing and guiding a team (or a willingness to learn)
  • A full and relevant Level 2 or above qualification in childcare
  • A good understanding of the EYFS and a variety of approaches to learning and development
  • A thorough knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • Submit to an enhanced DBS check
  • Be prepared to undertake further training including ongoing safeguarding and paediatric first aid.

 

Requirements:

  • Early Years qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Two satisfactory relevant references
  • Satisfactory disclosure check and sign-up to the update service

Early years apprentice

This is a unique opportunity for a highly-enthusiastic, warm, and nature-loving individual to achieve their Early Years qualification (Level 2 or 3) under the dedicated guidance of our experienced team.

 

About the role:

  • Working towards a Level 2 or 3 Early Years Educator qualification through Parenta
  • You will be given time to complete tasks related to the apprenticeship
  • 30 hours per week (flexible schedule)

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must enjoy working with children and have a love of the outdoors. 
  • Embraces the nursery’s ethos of outdoor and healthy living
  • Has knowledge of safeguarding children
  • An interest in healthy lifestyles would be an advantage
