Spotlight on: Enduratec

Overbury's history as a hub of industry dates back hundreds of years, and it is the Bossom family’s wish for it to continue to be a living, working village. This week, we shine a spotlight on the innovative journey of Overbury-based business Enduratec Ltd and the family at the heart of it.

Penelope's vision of Overbury as a place people can put down roots, live, and work locally has made a real difference. When discounting those not working, 72% of our community either work in the Parish or run their own business. The Hutts' engineering business, Enduratec, is a shining example.

Enduratec Ltd is an engineering company focused on a clear objective: making pipeline repairs safer, faster and permanent. Led by founder Bruce Hutt, the company has developed the DURASEAL system, a repair method now used across UK gas networks following years of structured development, testing and industry collaboration.

The foundations of the technology stretch back many years. Long before Enduratec was formally established, Bruce was developing silicone-based leak-repair concepts driven by the core belief that pipeline faults should be permanently resolved at first intervention, rather than managed with temporary fixes and repeated excavation.

Since incorporating and patenting their product in 2016, Enduratec has worked closely with gas network operators to validate and refine the system. From early live gas deployments to formal programmes and field use, this has led to major approvals and broader industry adoption.

While the engineering journey has been shaped by technical progress and collaboration, the personal story has unfolded in Overbury. Bruce and his family moved to the village in 2008. Nearly two decades later, Overbury has become more than simply a place to live; it has provided a stable tenancy, and grounded environment where family life and their engineering business could thrive side by side. Complex engineering innovation demands clear focus and support from the community; the rural setting and warmth of the village have nurtured it.

With a school at the heart of the village and open spaces offering safety and freedom, Bruce and Trevyn’s children have grown up in an environment that encourages independence and connection, while just down the road, Enduratec has steadily grown into an internationally active engineering business.

In recent years, the company has expanded into the recently converted Calf Pens and Dairy Farm Yard, supporting increased research, development and training activity while remaining firmly rooted in Overbury. They have also employed several residents from the area.

For Bruce and the Enduratec team, Overbury represents something simple yet significant: a stable base from which both a family and a long-term engineering business have thrived. Now, they continue to look to give back to the community, providing opportunities for young people, and strengthening the rural economy as they grow.
